A Minute Of Fame
On February 3, 2016, Chanel 8 WTNH visited Seymour for a "Zip Trip" ( A minute for a quick trip around Seymour). It was to be aired after the 6:00 p.m. evening news.
I patiently waited, and finally, there we were - a nice sweeping view of our Main Street and our well known Antique District. The cameras paid a little visit with Tracy in her elegant Tea With Tracy shop, which is unique in Seymour, and the surrounding area. A stop at our natural falls, where the first people lived - the Pequot Indians - who called their home Amauqsuck. And now a stop at our "jewel" the fish ladder, which is the only one of its kind in the North East.
The cameraman and his narrator trudged up Falls Hill to our beautiful Matthies House, the home of the Seymour Historical Society. He spoke with me and I told him how much our little town contributed to the wealth and growth of the New Nation.
I bragged a lot more, but it was cut to about three seconds.
After the filming, Loreen Coe could not resist in giving them a tour of our museum. Needless to say, they were surprised to discover what we had and how much history there is in our little town on the Naugatuck River.
Most people are surprised, and I wonder why!
We were a part of the birth of this unique nation. This is where it started, here in the colonies, Connecticut being the third colony to join with the other 12 colonies.
They then thanked us for our hospitality and they were pleased with the history lesson and said when leaving, "Make sure you watch on February 5," as if I would forget!
