Plan Your Visit
The Seymour Historical Society is open to the public during regular programs (held 8-10 times per year), during bimonthly open houses, at some special events, and by appointment.
When you arrive, you will find parking on the street in front of the house on W Church Street. During programs, spaces fill up fast, but additional parking can be found across West Street at the Marine Corp parking lot. Signs are posted.
Once you enter the House, you will be greeted by our volunteers and docents. Self-guided tours are available for the entire first and second floors, including the newest exhibit space named Our Town in the former garage.
The temporary exhibit space and some other areas of the house are constantly being updated, so there is plenty to see each time you visit!

Visiting the Katharine Matthies House and Museum is free. There is a small $5 per person fee for non-members for programs. Membership information can be found on the Membership Page.
There is no elevator in the house. The Military Room, Industrial Room, Bedchamber, and School Room, can only be accessed by stairs.
Plan on spending at least an hour at the house and museum if you would like to see everything. A quick walk-through can be done in about 15 minutes, but we often hear people say there is so much to see and they could spend all day inside!
